How does the Pharmacy Assistance program work?
Overview: The Pharmacy Assistance Program is designed to assist patients in obtaining life-saving cardiovascular medications. We complete the application from the pharmaceutical company with assistance from the patient’s cardiologist so that the patient receives a reliable supply of cardiovascular medication at no cost. Who Qualifies? The income level and application process vary among the many participating pharmaceutical companies. As a general rule, patients may qualify if they have no prescription coverage or have exceeded their insurance policy limits. The Pharmacy Assistance Program Coordinator is knowledgeable and experienced in pharmaceutical company assistance and discount programs as well as current Medicare guidelines. How much does it cost? The MidAtlantic Cardiovascular Foundation Pharmacy Assistance Program is a free service for our patients who do not have the financial means to pay for their medication. How does the program work? Our Pharmacy Assistance Program Coordinator will complete the various forms needed by the pharmaceutical companies with input from the patient. We will then send the forms to the patient’s cardiologist for approval and signature. When approved by the pharmaceutical company, the free medications are sent to the Foundation. The Pharmacy Assistance Program Coordinator will notify the patient that the medications are available for pick-up. How Do Patients Apply? · Call our Pharmacy Assistance Program Coordinator listed above to determine eligibility. · Proof of income must be mailed to the Pharmacy Assistance Program Coordinator. · The Pharmacy Assistance Program Coordinator will complete the appropriate forms and mail them to the pharmaceutical companies. · The Pharmacy Assistance Program Coordinator will call the patient when the medications are ready for pick-up. |

The MidAtlantic Cardiovascular Foundation’s Pharmacy Assistance Program (PAP) assists low-income and indigent patients obtain the medication that they need. The PAP program started in January 2005. Last year, the Foundation assisted approximately 600 patients in obtaining $745,926 of life-saving cardiovascular medications. All of MidAtlantic’s clinical offices are participating in the program and applications are now being accepted from the community-at-large. Please note that patients who have Medicare Part D are not eligible to participate in the Pharmacy Assistance Program.
